🥚 Tradition That Connects Us – Penganje Jaja Workshop
Dubrava Cultural Centre invites you to a traditional cultural event presenting Easter customs through several egg‑decorating workshops, focusing on Easter eggs as a key symbol of Christian Easter. Workshop leaders and heritage keepers demonstrate distinct traditional ornamentation and old techniques of writing and colouring Easter eggs from Croatian, Slovenian and Ukrainian traditions.
One of the workshops is dedicated to “penganje jaja” – a characteristic Easter custom from the Dubrovnik region (Dubrovačko primorje, Župa Dubrovačka, Pelješac, Konavle). It uses a batik‑style technique with hot beeswax, applied to eggs that are then dyed red, creating unique messages and patterns.
