🌿✨ Kokedama Workshop at the Art Center
The Art Center is organising a special workshop dedicated to Kokedama plants, led by Petra Pavelić, founder of the small plant studio Hangin’ Garden. Hangin’ Garden focuses on handcrafted kokedama – living green forms that bring nature into interiors in a delicate, sculptural and unmistakably unique way.
🍃 What is Kokedama?
Instead of growing in a traditional pot, a Kokedama plant lives in a hand‑shaped ball of soil wrapped in moss, which can be displayed on a surface or suspended in the air. This minimalist form originates from Japan and highlights harmony, simplicity and connection with nature, turning plants into small floating green worlds.
🌱 What we will do in the workshop
short introduction to the story and philosophy of kokedama – how it emerged and why it works so well in modern interiors
choosing suitable plants (such as spathiphyllum, chamaedorea elegans or similar houseplants)
preparing the substrate, shaping the soil ball, wrapping it with moss and securing everything with string
creating the final look – a hanging kokedama or a sculptural moss ball to place on a dish or stand
Throughout the process, Petra guides you step by step, sharing practical tips for a stable yet gentle ball and advice on plant selection.
🧘♀️ Creativity meets calm
Working with plants and moss naturally slows you down – you tune in to texture, scent, touch and breath. The Kokedama workshop becomes a mini anti‑stress ritual, helping to reduce tension and gently reconnect you with nature through your own hands.
