📜 Handmade Paper Workshop – Paper as a Creative Medium 🌿
In this workshop you’ll get to know paper as an artistic medium and explore the possibilities of making it by hand from scratch. From soaking and pulping old fibres to pulling your own sheets, you’ll experience the full journey of paper – and see how everyday waste turns into tactile, visually rich handmade paper.
You’ll be working with familiar, recycled materials you can find at home – egg cartons, cardboard, old printed sheets – giving them a completely new life. The workshop provides screens and moulds, coloured pulp and decorative elements such as threads, leaves and flowers, inviting you to experiment with texture and colour, and you’re welcome to bring small personal materials you’d like to embed in your sheets.
Alongside the practical making, you’ll also hear stories about traditional paper‑making techniques and the rich history of paper, as well as how contemporary textile and visual artists use it in their work.
✨ What will we do?
prepare old paper for recycling and learn how to make pulp
work with screens and moulds to form your own sheets
experiment with add‑ons (threads, leaves, flowers, fragments of drawings or text) to create characterful, one‑of‑a‑kind paper
