🌿 Faces of Vassa – Small Green Gestures that Transform Space 🍃
The “Faces of Vassa” workshop explores interior and exterior enhancement through small, precise spatial accents rather than large‑scale redesign. Participants will work with plant textures, examine volume and spatial relations, and explore the dialogue between botany and industrial design, while also practicing what the author calls “training the pause” – creating small islands of rest within a space.
Through hands‑on exercises, you will consider where and how to introduce a plant, object or detail so that a room gains a new face, rhythm and scale without becoming cluttered. Special attention is given to materials, line, light and shadow, and to how living elements (plants) interact with “hard” industrial structures (metal, concrete, ceramics).
👨🎨 Ivan Levak – Spatial & Product Designer
The workshop is led by Ivan Levak, a spatial and product designer and creative director at L! studio, as well as a co‑founder of the DA! Festival. He has international experience and awards in designing installations, objects and systems, combining spatial interventions with product series and conceptual scenography.
Ivan has worked as a product designer for Modus Design Shop in Zagreb, collaborated with design store Selectedd, interned at Studio Tomás Saraceno in Berlin, and was a product designer and art director for start‑up Bellabeat.
✨ What will you do in the workshop?
look at interior/exterior spaces through the lens of small‑scale interventions rather than major makeovers
study plant textures and volumes and how they can be paired with industrial elements
with Ivan’s guidance, design a small spatial accent – a “Face of Vassa” – that shifts the atmosphere and introduces a pause into the space
✨ IMPORTANT:
open to architecture, design, and landscape students as well as anyone interested in spatial mood and green accents
no advanced technical skills required – observation, spatial sensitivity and curiosity are more important
spots are limited, registration is required
