🥟 Burek & Pies of the World – Cooking Workshop for Kids (9–12 yrs)
In this workshop, children explore how burek and similar pies are made in different cultures – by actually cooking. They’ll discover various versions of this dish, from the Balkan‑style burek to other pies from around the world, and through a fun quiz learn curious facts about “bureks” and pies from different countries.
👩🍳 Together we will:
make burek (or “burek with cheese” / cheese pie – a hot topic at the centre 😉)
prepare several different pies inspired by various cultures
take part in a quiz about “bureks” and pies of the world, learning about traditions, ingredients and names of dishes
We will also work with gluten‑free pastry, so children get to know this type of dough as well. We’ll explain, in a simple and age‑appropriate way, why some people can’t eat gluten and what coeliac disease and similar conditions mean.
The workshop connects cooking, culture and inclusion, and of course ends with a shared tasting of the bureks and pies we’ve made. 😋
